Go Ahead and Grab That Coffee!

Ok…..if you LOVE coffee, but have given it up (because of bipolar reports- one day it’s good, the next, it’s bad)…..keep reading cause I hope this makes your day brighter!

Over the years, you may have heard that you need to stay away from caffeine, especially coffee because it was being classified as a drug.

“Say no to drugs” has been our world-wide motto and this campaign was affecting the coffee bean industry; however, there has never been a study or test that has proven coffee or caffeine has a connection to a heart condition or any other medical problem.

Drinking about 2 cups of coffee could possibly cause a rapid heart beat in a small percentage of people and could temporarily raise their body temperature.

I drink coffee before my morning cardio sessions at least twice a week and I’ve advised some of my clients to drink 2 cups of coffee in the morning before a workout to help reduce body fat.

Repeat that Felicia again….

Here’s how it works…

Wake with an empty stomach, drink 1 or 2 cups of coffee and proceed to workout. The caffeine in the coffee will boost your endurance by prolonging fatigue and help you burn just body fat.

Here’s what many people do wrong…..

Eat a meal right before a workout, usually high in simple carbs (donuts, muffins, breakfast cereal) or no meal at all and wonder why they crash during a workout.

Unfortunately, you will only maintain your current weight and body fat instead of tapping into your excess body fat storage.

Here are some other benefits to drinking coffee:

  •  improvements to long term memory (where did you put your keys again?)
  •  stimulates the bowels (get rid of some of that poop in your gut)
  •  natural diuretic (helps with bloating)

Of course, you should drink plenty of clear liquids like water daily to flush out toxins, no matter how much coffee is consumed.

Sidenote: How much water should you drink?  Aim for at least half of your bodyweight in ounces…for example, if you weigh 150 lbs, you should set a goal to drink 75 ounces of water daily.

The only proven negative effect of coffee is that unfiltered coffee beans have compounds that could possibly raise your blood cholesterol as much as 20 points. Basically, stay away from coffee made in a French press.

Many people claim the flavor is better but obviously not healthy for your body, so drink only filtered coffee!!

A couple of tidbits of information about caffeine:

1 shot of espresso has less caffeine than regular coffee

1 cup of tea has more caffeine than regular coffee

1 cup of coffee can enhance your alertness

So, go ahead and have a java jolt and enjoy!

If your goal is fat loss, “you got to cut it” with the sugar, so opt for black coffee or sugar free creamer. One of my favorite sugar free creamers is from Walden Farms and my favorite weight loss coffee is Delgada!

Take advantage of the benefits a hot cup of coffee can do for you.

One short, skinny latte to go could add amazing results to your life!!

Make sure you come back and leave me a comment and let me know how your workouts are after implementing my suggestions!

Dedicated to your fat loss success,

Felicia
